A little bit about Mexicool:
We are an apparel and accessory brand that blends cultures through bold, irreverent, clever designs. We attempt to engage in a discussion that highlights the curious symbiotic relationship between Mexico and the US, and we seek to foster empathy and unity through a shared cultural experience.
Our tees are proudly made in Mexico with American parts. We use Spectra tees for the perfect blend of quality and style, and we hand-print locally in SoCal at a small family-run shop.
Mexicool is the creation of designer-illustrator Robby Vient Alcaraz. Half gringo, half paisa, and fully bicultural-bilingual, Robby grew up in Mazatlán, México with family and friends on both sides of the border. The oldest son of an ex-pat dad and native Mexican mom, he grew up keenly aware of the similarities, differences and nuances between both cultures.
At the age of 19 he moved up to Los Angeles to learn the tricks of the commercial art trade. While still in school at Art Center in the late 90s he co-founded the acclaimed brand NaCo. a seminal Mexican clothing brand that combined fashion with Mexican pop culture and humor.
Today Robby has over 20 years of hands-on experience in the creative field in multiple disciplines including graphic design, illustration and branding. He combines his imagination, comedic flair and his profound love for both cultures to create Mexicool.
"It doesn't have to be profound... but it's got to be clever" - Robby Vient Alcaraz
